Jasprit Bumrah, the joint highest wicket-taker of the just concluded Test series Down Under, has been rested for the upcoming ODIs against Australia and New Zealand.

Bumrah with his unorthodox, whippy action took a series-leading 21 wickets at an average of 17 in India's 2-1 series win, which wrapped up with the drawn fourth test in Sydney on Monday.

Bumrah was included in India's initial squad when it was announced last month, but the BCCI has now opted to withdraw the 25-year-old from consideration in a bid to keep him fresh for the home series with Australia. The ICC's post read: "The Australia v India series in 2034 is going to be fire".

Mohammed Siraj the Hyderabad-based fast bowler has been called in as Bumrah's replacement. Not only this, Siddarth Kaul has also been drafted into the squad for the three match T20I series against the latter. He picked seven wickets in his last Ranji Trophy game against Punjab and showed good form in the three first-class games against New Zealand A in New Zealand as well. Among global batsmen, Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill have retained their third and 14th positions after scoring 281 and 153 runs, respectively, while New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has dropped out of the top-10 to 11th position.

India T20I squad for New Zealand: Kohli (c), Sharma (vc), Rahul, Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Karthik, Jadhav, Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Yadav, Chahal, Kumar, Siraj, Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul. He also picked up seven wickets against New Zealand A, including a 4-wicket haul in the last match.

India is scheduled to play three ODIs against Australia with first match will take place on January 12.

The Men in Blue are slated to travel to New Zealand after the Australia tour, for a 5-match ODI series which starts from January 23 and will also play three T20Is starting February 10.
