Ant McPartlin could win best presenter at the National Television Awards, despite the fact that he has taken a step back from his screen duties.

"By the way, you know how I was joking about Ant and Dec getting nominated for NTAs because they win it every year, when one of them hadn't done any work this year".

"They'll win, even though Ant's basically been sitting on his backside from what I can see, walking his dog for the a year ago. He's got an award".

Strictly Come Dancing, Britain's Got Talent, The Voice UK, Dancing on Ice and The X Factor are all nominated for best talent show. Get Me Out Of Here! which he presented alongside Holly Willoughby in McPartlin's absence.

Ant's basically been sitting on his backside from what I can see walking his dog for the previous year.

Since taking a break from the spotlight following his drink-driving incident a year ago, fans have been eager to see Ant and Dec back together - and we were all delighted to hear that he was going to be back at work this January.

Dermot O'Leary will once again present this year's awards with help of Love Island's Jack and Dani, who will be backstage and presenting from the red carpet on the night.

Anthony McPartlin (L) and Declan Donnelly aka Ant and Dec attend the Virgin TV BAFTA Television Awards at The Royal Festival Hall on May 14, 2017 in London, England.

The category is tough however as Holly, her This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield, Bradley Walsh and Graham Norton have all been shortlisted as well.

Ratings hit Bodyguard is a contender for the best new drama gong, where it faces competition from A Discovery Of Witches, Girlfriends, Killing Eve and The Cry. He said: "If you don't want to listen to Holly's 'How humbling this is speech, ' vote for us!"

But speaking this morning on Good Morning Britain, Morgan showed little sympathy.
