James, who did some shooting during a Lakers practice session last week, originally suffered the injury midway through the third quarter of the team's win on December 25.

The 34-year-old superstar has not played since straining his groin against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day.

During James' eight-game absence, the Lakers have struggled, going 3-5.

James was evaluated on Thursday and the medical staff of the Lakers determined "the healing of James' groin injury is progressing".

Utah has struggled offensively, averaging 107.8 points per game. Before that he had sat out a couple of games with a lower back injury and his shooting numbers in the three previous games were 1 for 4, 5 for 17 and 9 for 21.

Walton also praised Kuzma's work ethic after the 41-point night, saying, "what a lot of people don't know is that even though yesterday was an off day, he was in the gym getting up 500 shots". His scoring average is 18.8 ppg up from 16.1 in 2017-18. Brandon Ingram is the third double-digit scorer and JaVale McGee is grabbing 6.8 rebounds. Kuzma, Ball and Hart are all in their second seasons in the National Basketball Association, while Ingram is in his third.

With James being out of the lineup for another game, the Lakers will be forced to continue to adapt and adjust without their franchise player.

In 34 games this season, James has averaged 27.3 points per game with 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists. Until then, the Jazz will simply have to hope that they can weather their own injury storm and come away with a few key victories over beatable teams in the coming days, including against LA, as they aim to surge up the standings and get back in the playoff mix.

The under has been a very popular trend not only when these teams meet, but in their games overall this season.
