Koffee With Karan 6, which not only airs on Star World but also streams online on HotStar, featured the episode of Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul. "From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don't support and the two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude of what's happened", Kohli said.

"I am not convinced with Hardik's explanation and I have recommended a two-match ban for both players". Pandya had even rendered a public apology on Instagram saying, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee With Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned whom I may have hurt in any way".

He also shared that he openly identifies the women he sleeps with to his parents: "At a party my parents asked me acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai (Which are your women)?"

On the show, when the host Karan Johar asked the bowler, "Why don't you ask women's names at nightclubs?", he replied, "I like to watch and observe how they move. I'm little from the black side so I need to see how they move". "While Rahul chose the sensible answer, "[It's] up to the woman", the outspoken Pandya chimed in: "Nahi nahi, aisa kuch nahi hai.

Facing major backlash on social media, Pandya quickly took to his Twitter account and sent out an apology where he said that he got "a bit carried away" and that he did not "mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments".

"I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful", stated Pandya's response, as quoted by PTI. Virat Kohli-led India are set to take on Aaron Finch's Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting with the first match in Sydney on Saturday. And though Rahul didn't make any controversial comments himself, social media users have blamed him for not intervening and taking up a stand.
