Brandon Mebane, a defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that his 7-week-old daughter Makenna died on Thursday, January 3rd after battling a defective heart condition, according to ESPN.

Lynn and the Chargers still seem confident the Pro Bowl running back will suit up for Sunday's AFC Divisional Round matchup with the New England Patriots, though.

Mebane was excused from football duties leading up to the Chargers' game with the Baltimore Ravens to care for his daughter and be with his family, and he'll return for this contest. "She just kept having bleeding from her stomach, and then they tried to feed her, it wasn't good for her liver", Mebane explained.

"No matter where I am, I still think about her", Mebane said of Makenna. "The goal is to get him to the game and let him play on Sunday". The Chargers are red-hot heading into Foxboro, and they've yet to lose away from Los Angeles this season. Still thankful [for having her in our life]. "It's still painful. I thank God every day and still pray". "I'm just trying to take one day at a time".
