A man has been charged with multiple counts of indecent assault by Victoria Police, with media outlets naming the accused as Gold Logie victor Craig McLachlan.

Known for playing Henry Ramsey in the soap in the 80s, the 53-year old has now been charged with the crimes by police in Victoria.

He was charged on summons to appear at Melbourne magistrates' court on 8 February 2019.

In 2013, he was cast as Frank N Furter in a stage production of the Rocky Horror Show touring Australia, but in 2018 was accused of inappropriate behaviour by several female co-stars.

Craig McLachlan had to pull out of his starring role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show when the allegations were revealed.

Whelan Browne said that while performing a sex scene with McLachlan he inappropriately touched her while on stage. There was a bed sheet so that the audience could not see what was happening.

It is not clear if the charges relate to the allegations made against him by the Rocky Horror Show actresses.

McLachlan has strenuously denied all of the allegations against him and previously launched his own legal suit against his accusers.

The defamation case is due to be heard before the NSW Supreme Court on February 4.
