Thomas Davis has spent all 14 of his years in the National Football League with the Carolina Panthers.

The 35-year-old Davis has spent his entire 14-year career in Carolina, including four years under Dave Gettleman (2013-2016), who is now running the show for the New York Giants. I wanted to be a part of a group that came and wrote the wrongs that we had this season. But, he announced Wednesday on Twitter he would not be back with the team next season. "I wanted to be back".

"As a leader of this team I take full responsibility for some of the things that we allowed to happen and for the games we lost consecutively". In only 12 games last season he got 79 tackles and six passes defended. He was drafted in 2005. "Man, you guys have been incredible for 14 very special years that I will always remember".

Davis is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection. Fourteen very special years that I will always remember, that I will always cherish. Davis previously stated he couldn't imagine playing for another team, but said in his video that he has no intention of retiring. So I want to keep playing, I'm gonna keep playing. "Hopefully someone is going to give me that opportunity". Carolina opened up 6-2 and looked primed to make a playoff run before a late-season collapse saw it finish 7-9 and out of the playoffs.
