Another interesting tidbit is that Insomniac's Spider-Man, which was released back in September of past year, has sold through more than 9 million copies globally as of November 25, 2018.

Sony didn't waste any time touting impressive PS4 sales numbers from the holidays.

Sony has sold 91.6 million PlayStation 4 units consoles to date, the company announced today at its CES 2019 keynote. Its popularity was no doubt helped by exclusives such as God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man, as well as the reduced PS4 bundles that were on offer during Black Friday. The Cumulative sell-through since its launch has reached over 91 million units worldwide.

With studios like Naughty Dog banging out exclusive titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, From Software offering Bloodborne, and more recently Santa Monica's utterly brilliant God of War pseudo-reboot, the PS4 has a stellar games line up that arguably trumps the exclusives the Xbox One can now offer. The excellent web-swinging adventure Marvel's Spider-Man saw incredible success, shifting some nine million copies between its September launch and November 25 of previous year.

The company also says its PlayStation Network, which charges users a recurring annual fee to access online play and other features, saw strong growth, with total subscribers topping 90 million by the end of November 2018.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our passionate community around the globe, and ur partners, for helping us achieve these milestones. As we look towards the next PS4 milestone, SIE will continue to evolve, and we will further expand the platform to deliver the best interactive experiences to the world".

And there's more in the works with the likes of The Last of Us 2 and Days Gone potentially set to make an appearance this year.
