Jericho had apparently been in talks with WWE about a return in recent weeks.

This set off rumours that the former World Heavyweight Champion was set to be revealed as a marquee capture at their Jacksonville rally on Tuesday, but that turned out to be Jericho. If this is the case, considering his rather sketchy relationship with Vince McMahon, his career in WWE might well be over.

Backed by the funds of the owners of National Football League franchise Jacksonville Jaguars - Shahid and Tony Khan - Rhodes and The Bucks have left New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring Of Honor to build new ground, and they've already started with some huge signings in the form of Chris Jericho and former WWE star Neville.

Meanwhile, WWE moved Jericho to the Alumni section of WWE.com after Jericho made his AEW rally appearance.

While it is odd seeing Jericho on this table, the fact that he has signed an agreement with a rival company, any foreseeable comeback to the WWE universe has now safely reached a dead end.

Jericho's AEW signing was trending on CNN's "news and buzz" section. He will be up against younger talent, but his face and branding can go a long way in promoting the rival company.

Chris would go on further to say that the prospective TV deals will definitely allow all those who are curious about the promotion to know that this is a new major force in the industry.

He also added that he wanted to "change the entire universe".
