The BMW 7-Series is about to receive a mid-cycle makeover (LCI in BMW speak).

It is no news that BMW is working on the facelifted version of the sixth-gen 7 Series, which debuted in 2015, for quite some time now. Well it looks like the facelift 7 Series will also get a similar-looking design when it's officially unveiled to the public. The headlamps are no sleeker and boast the company's Laserlight technology.

The BMW 7 Series is the flagship sedan offering from the German automaker and is the rival to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and Jaguar XJ.

The X7, a rival to the Range Rover that launched late previous year, will rub shoulders with the 7 Series at the top of BMW's range. Even the rear of the vehicle will feature many refreshed elements.

The updated luxury saloon's new nostrils are accompanied by sharper exterior styling that includes slimmer headlights and tail-lights. The updated model is expected in showrooms in the fall as a 2020 model. While the diesel engine makes 265PS/620Nm, the petrol unit is good for 326SP/450Nm. There will also be a 745e iPerformance xDrive plug-in hybrid with a combined 388 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque on offer, which is 64 hp more than the current 740e offers. These appear to be taken from an online configurator and show not only the 750 Li, but also the 750 Li with the M Sport package and the mighty V12-powered M760Li - all finished in Alpine White.

Expect BMW to reveal the facelifted 7 Series in the coming months, with an India launch likely to follow.
