Usual starters Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba are staying in Barcelona and will not be in the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia to face Levante on Thursday night.

His first goal this campaign came in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao back in September, while his second was in the 4-1 win over Cultural Leonesa in the Copa Del Rey.

According to Spanish publication Marca, the forward had a meeting with his boss Valverde ahead of Barcelona's clash with Getafe on Sunday, which they won 2-0. "We just had a break, the players had some rest, and everybody was able to charge their batteries".

"Munir has made a decision and the club has also taken it", he told a press conference on Wednesday.

"If we have a lot of cup matches coming up that's good, because it means we're going through".

'January is a hard month for us.

'Everyone loves playing in semi-finals and finals but we have to get through the earlier rounds and go for it.

"We want a solution as soon as possible, if possible during this market".

Valverde has made a decision to give the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez a rest with what will be a busy upcoming month for Barcelona.

After emerging from Barcelona's youth ranks to make his first-team debut in 2014-15, Munir has twice been loaned out and he has featured in Valverde's starting line-up just once in La Liga this season.
