Android 9 Pie officially available for Nokia 8 Sirocco

Set to arrive as the Nokia 8.1 Plus later on this year, the new smartphone will act as an upper-midrange entry.

Today, HMD Global is proud to announce that the Nokia 8.1 smartphone is the latest smartphone lineup to kick off 2019.

The Android Pie update to Nokia 8 Sirocco brings App Actions feature that displays the most relevant apps and in-app features for quicker navigation. The main difference is that the phone shown in the leaked video and images has a punch-hole display and the rear camera setup also looks slightly different. On the other hand, on the Nokia official online store, the phone was available for Rs 15,499 which is also the suggested retail price for the device for offline selling.

The phone will allegedly have a huge 6.22-inch display, with a hole in the top-left corner to accommodate the front camera. There is still a small chin at the bottom to show off the Nokia logo, but you won't find any traditional notch here.

As for its availability in Malaysia, the Nokia 8.1 will be heading to retailers in Malaysia on 18 January with a price tag of RM 1699.

Around back we can see that Nokia's equipping the 8.1 Plus with dual cameras, what appears to be a two-tone LED flash, and a fingerprint sensor.
