Mortal Kombat 11 will be the first game for the franchise since Mortal Kombat XL which released in 2016. The main new features in this next fighting game, as far as I can tell, are ultraviolence that's even more wince-inducing and dressing up your murderers like pretty dolls.

Mortal Kombat 11 will also include another chapter in the series' trademark cinematic story mode, continuing the "epic saga" that's been more than 25 years in the making. The game will also be engineered through a new graphics engine, showcasing every gory detail and brutal moment as spectacularly as possible to bring gamers closer to the fight.

A community reveal event is slated for January 17th to see what's next for Netherealm Studios and Mortal Kombat 11, with a full release now keyed in for April 23rd, although whether it's available day and date on PC is one important bit of information we can hope Netherealm can share in the near future. It'll just be like the mild gear system in Injustice 2, won't it.

The trailer at least partially matches up with a recent Reddit leak though, which predicted the game would be shown at The Game Awards and that it features a plot involving time travel.
