The woman who claims she was attacked by National Football League starReuben Foster says reps from the 49ers tried to undermine her credibility with police during the investigation. telling cops she had lied about domestic violence in the past. "Anybody in my position would do the same", Ennis said.

Former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe has criticised the Washington Redskins for signing linebacker Reuben Foster two days after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers.

The Tampa Police Department said on November 24 they were called to the Grand Hyatt hotel, where the San Francisco 49ers were staying before their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the next day, to investigate a domestic violence complaint.

"He took one of my new phones and slapped me and pushed me", she said. Officers responding to the scene saw a scratch on the side of Ennis's left collarbone and arrested Foster. He was later released on $2,000 bail.

Foster abused Ennis on at least three occasions, she said, telling "Good Morning America" she had been punched and kicked, among other violent acts.

"We both were seeing therapists and stuff, trying to work on our relationship", she said. "So I was like, "I can't believe you - you're back to doin' this'".

Ennis alleged she sustained a concussion from the slap from the 6ft tall, 16-stone linebacker.

The San Francisco 49ers released Foster on Sunday morning, hours after he was arrested at the team hotel in Tampa, Fla., on charges of domestic violence. He was the team's first-round draft pick in 2017.

In October, she said another incident prompted the neighbors to phone the police. Additionally, she claims the 49ers tried to discredit her when police arrived at the hotel in Tampa last month.

"Like, everything I thought was love is really not love", she said.

"Love will have you doing things that's not in your best interests", she said, adding, "I did what I had to do for the person I love". "I did what I had to do for the person I loved. I thought that he would change". Additionally, Ennis admitted at the time that she previously served jail time in 2011 for falsely accusing another ex-boyfriend of domestic violence after he broke up with her. Niners general manager John Lynch said at the time that Foster was "not living up to what we had communicated and to the energy and the time that we've invested in him".

During the alleged altercation, Ennis said she asked Foster how he would feel if someone were treating his mother or sister in a physical manner.

When the Redskins picked up Foster days after his release, Ennis said it felt like a "slap in the face".

This followed two prior arrests for Foster in the past year, including charges of felony domestic violence.

"I wanted to get him", Ennis testified under oath, according to 49ers reporter Cam Inman. Foster and the 49ers were preparing to play the Buccaneers the next day.

Ennis said that she's now realized, after receiving professional help, that her relationship with Foster was not love and that she's working on getting closure.

She and Foster had begun seeing other people when she says he flew her to Tampa to see him on November 25.

Foster's deal with the Redskins remains in place pending the outcome of the Tampa Bay Police Department investigation.

After Foster's arrest, the 49ers placed Foster on waivers. "Foster will be subject to discipline even if the conduct does not result in a criminal conviction".

However, head coach Jay Gruden said the team made a decision to go in a "different direction" and gave sporting reasons that the move had not materialised - Kaepernick's need to come straight into the playing side while not being familiar with the team's plays, for example.

The San Francisco 49ers declined to comment.
