Amal Clooney stuns in $6K gown at United Nations awards

Amal Clooney took aim at President Donald Trump on Wednesday for his treatment of the press.

In a speech at the United Nations Correspondents Association Awards in NY, the human rights barrister criticised the president for labeling the American press "enemy of the people" as she drew a line between Mr Trump's rhetoric and the rise of populism around the world.

As the event's Global Citizen of the Year honoree, the worldwide human rights lawyer gave an impassioned speech about the threats to the safety of journalists, citing specific cases of imprisonment in Myanmar and by "autocratic regimes" around the globe. George stood by her side with style, as he's known to do, but for an evening as momentous as this one, the duo snuck in a couple extra plus-ones: Nick Clooney and Nina Warren - as in, George's parents.

She looked glamorous in a navy and ivory silk color block gown. George wore a black tux.
