"She's much better at it", the soon-to-be sworn in lawmaker from Queens, New York, told Huckabee via Twitter.

"We've done what we thought was impossible", Ocasio-Cortez said. "Big difference", Huckabee tweeted Sunday, linking to a news report about her remarks.

"We went to the moon".

Ocasio-Cortez, who knocked off longtime political power broker Rep. Joe Crowley in June's Democratic primary, shot back at the one-time Arkansas governor shortly afterward. Because in every moment when our country has reached the depths of darkness, in every moment when we were at the brink, at the cusp of an abyss, and we did not know if we would be capable of saving ourselves, we have.

But Ms Ocasio-Cortez hit back, and noted that her moon landing comments came while she was campaigning for an ambitious "Green New Deal" that would see the U.S. transition to a carbon free, 100 per cent renewable energy system.

"Ocasio-Cortez is campaigning for what she terms a Green New Deal, which would involve 'transitioning the United States to a carbon-free, 100-percent renewable energy system, and a fully modernized electrical grid by 2035, '" Newsweek reported. "That's what we did when so many of us won an election this year", she said.

Of those policies she has championed is the Green New Deal, as well as a proposal for "Medicare for All" that would effective give health insurance to all Americans.

"Also, you haven't been a Governor of any state for 10+ years now", she added, apparently in response to his Twitter handle in which he still uses his title from elected office, which he last held almost 12 years ago.

It didn't take long for Ocasio-Cortez to simultaneously correct Huckabee, restate her point, diss his irrelevance, and drag his daughter all in one compact tweet. "Don't y'all have jobs to do?" she asked, rhetorically.
