EA and DICE's ambition to drive the Battlefield series into the future with its game-as-service model gets its first test as it launches the first content update for Battlefield V, labeled Overture, December 4th. That name is quite a mouthful, but the update/patch brings with it a number of new features and even performance updates.

Nvidia didn't note whether it observed those performance improvements in multiplayer maps or in the game's single-player campaign, but in any case, they would represent major boosts over the performance we observed in our first round of testing. You can see a brief tease for the campaign in the video below. You can also partake in action on the new Panzerstorm map (set in the Belgium countryside) during multiplayer outings. All of this will come in an update tomorrow so make sure you're platform of choice is ready to download it in order to continue playing online. Additionally, the update introduces new challenges that reward players with things like soldier outfits and weapon skins, while the game also adds cosmetic customisation options for tanks and other vehicles.

Battlefield V has been the poster child for Nvidia's ray tracing support ever since Nvidia revealed the RTX graphics cards.

However, NVIDIA says that DirectX raytracing performance has been improved by up to 50 percent across the entire GeForce RTX range, which is astounding. DICE indicated that there will be more chapters in the Tides of War before March 2019.
