Lots of older (and not-so-old) movies have been targeted by the reboot machine in recent years, and the same phenomenon has been striking TV too.

Rob Morrow, who starred in the original 1990-95 series as Dr. Joel Fleischman, will reprise his role in the revival, with original creators Josh Brand and John Falsey on board as executive producers.

"Northern Exposure" might be the next series to get the revival treatment, with CBS now developing the project, an individual with knowledge of production tells TheWrap. Joel is itching to get back to the hustle and bustle of NY as soon as he can, but slowly starts to fall for Cicely and its "weird" inhabitants. However, much to his chagrin, he is assigned to the much smaller, remote fictional town of Cicely, which is in need of a general practitioner.

There's no word yet most of the remaining the cast, but we're told Morrow's co-star John Corbett will be back as his popular character Chris Stevens "from time to time" as well.

Written by Brand, the revival centers on Dr. Joel Fleischman, played by Morrow, who returns to Cicely, Alaska, for the funeral of an old friend and finds a new set of quirky characters and reunites with old ones in this continuation of the classic series.
Josh Brand, one of the co-creators, is writing the new show, which original United States network CBS has in development. The series ran for 110 episodes and won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 1992, along with a pair of Golden Globes for best drama series. There are no details as to when it might hit screens.
