Her frequent use of her private email address concerned aides, including one former senior official who described her as "the worst offender in the White House".

Cummings is the likely incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee.

According to the Washington Post, Trump said she was not familiar with some details of the guidelines for email use. "No emails were ever deleted'". "My main priority as chairman will be to focus on the issues that impact Americans in their everyday lives".

"Did Ivanka Trump turn over all of her emails for preservation as required by law?"

"Ms. Trump did not create a private server in her house or office, no classified information was ever included, the account was never transferred at Trump Organization, and no emails were ever deleted", he stated.

"To say that Ivanka Trump doesn't know or is ignorant of policy - the flawless example is Hillary Clinton".

In a statement, Trump's lawyer blasted "misinformation" by media critics attempting to draw a parallel between the president's daughter and Clinton.

"She wasn't doing anything to hide her emails", Trump said, speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House as he prepared to depart Washington to spend the Thanksgiving holiday at his club in Palm Beach, Florida.

TRUMP: She routinely sent classified emails on an insecure private server that could be easily hacked by hostile foreign agents.

I didn't see anything nefarious in Clinton's email server and I wouldn't care about Ivanka's email except for the staggering hypocrisy and how she lies about not realizing after her father made private emails a central theme of his campaign.

"There should be some kind of investigative effort, whether it's through the Office of Government Ethics or through the Congress", Blumenthal said in an interview with CNN.

The House Oversight investigation into private email used by Trump White House officials was launched in early 2017 with the support of then-Republican chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz.

Yet the emails are just one problem for the White House.

Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director for 11 days past year, told CNN that the error was so glaring that Ivanka Trump herself would have to acknowledge it if asked.

Another issue Dershowitz said was overblown in the same segment is the appointment of Matthew Whitaker as Acting Attorney General and the lawsuit filed by Democratic Senators.

"The parallels between Ms Trump's conduct and that of Secretary Clinton are inescapable", Austin Evers, the group's executive director, said in the letter.

The House Oversight Committee had jurisdiction over the years-long investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while conducting business as secretary of state.
