West Virginia police 'apprehend' raccoon 'drunk' on fermented crab apples

Drunk on fermented crab apples, that is, according to WSAZ.

Police captured the raccoons on November 11. and 12, and, after learning they were just drunk, released them back into the woods unharmed.

When police in Milton, West Virginia, got calls about suspected rabid raccoons acting obnoxious in broad daylight, they discovered that the bandit-faced animals were merely drunk.

Those in the Milton neighborhood called authorities after they noticed the raccoon's odd behavior; it was reportedly staggering around and appeared to be disoriented. Rather, it seems the creature just had too much to "drink".

That's when Milton police learned that these two four-legged critters - one of them police named Dallas - weren't rabid.

And when you're a raccoon, those alcohol side effects don't just make you look drunk. After the animals sobered up, the officers released them into the woods unharmed.
