But Brown made it clear that he isn't about to give up on Fultz - even as Butler is set to arrive, and the pressure to win on these Sixers is about to increase yet again.

The 20-year-old guard has struggled so far in his second National Basketball Association season and his playing time could be cut after Philadelphia acquired Jimmy Butler from the Timberwolves last weekend.

The second-year guard has been working vigorously on his three-point shooting, but Monday night in Miami, it looked like he needs to put some work into his free throws.

Philadelphia 76ers star Markelle Fultz is at the centre of a social media bollocking after his freaky free throw attempt went viral. But instead of stroking a free throw through the net, Fultz double clutched, tossing up an ugly attempt reminiscent of his 2017-18 form. The two spent the summer getting up thousands and thousands of shots a day in hopes of returning Fultz's form to its pre-Sixers state. "Everybody knows what happened past year, so this summer was really just me working to get my mechanics back, my confidence back, my swagger back". I have to work on my game. Brown, however, said he and the team are not giving up on Fultz yet. It was an injury that happened that didn't allow me to go through the certain paths that I needed to, to shoot the ball. "We're going to keep encouraging him and try to shoot more of those shots that we saw where his fluid side was really impressive, rising up over bigger people".

In related news, Fultz and his trainer Drew Hanlen are reportedly no longer on speaking terms. The 76ers just traded their winger shooters in Robert Covington and Dario Saric in the trade for Butler, who is notoriously hard on underperformers. Ben Simmons hasn't attempted one all season.

But a second top pick who can't shoot was never in the 76ers' plans.
