The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

And it's someone who has been rumoured for a while: Pedro Pascal.

".a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
Pascal, known mostly for his work on Game of Thrones, was rumored to play the part weeks ago by sites like, but this is the first confirmation. Now, insiders tell Variety that he has been offered the role and negotiations are underway. Other installments will be directed by Jessica Jones' Deborah Chow, Dope's Rick Famuyiwa, Jurassic World actress-turned-director Bryce Dallas Howard, and Thor: Ragnarok's director-actor Taika Waititi.

Favreau is also executive producing the show, along with Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson.

The Mandalorian is written and executive produced by Jon Favreau, the director of Jungle Book, Iron Man as well as the upcoming reinterpretation of The Lion King.

And this isn't the only Star Wars offshoot coming to Disney's streaming service: Lucasfilm is also developing a Rogue One prequel series that will center on Cassian Andor, Diego Luna's character from the 2016 film.

Pascal's stock continues to rise as of late, as he also played a rather sizable role in Denzel's last action hit, The Equalizer 2, is in Barry Jenkins' If Beale Street Could Talk, and has a role in Wonder Woman 1984.

He is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
