Rivers overcame the slow start to throw two touchdown passes, Melvin Gordon gained 165 yards and the Chargers won their sixth straight game, 20-6 over the struggling Oakland Raiders on Sunday. This win was no different but the Bolts did hold the Oakland Raiders to zero touchdowns while holding them to just one the last time they faced off.

The Chargers had a 7-point lead at halftime but opened up a two-score edge when Gordon turned a short pass into a 66-yard touchdown early in the third quarter.

Davis, who spoke to ESPN during a dinner at an Oakland waterfront restaurant Sunday night in which he played host to former Raiders Jim Otto, Art Shell, Clem Daniels, Art Thoms and the late Ken Stabler's life partner, Kim Bush, and daughter Kendra Stabler Moyes, also said Gruden had a 10-year contract for a reason.

With weapons such as Melvin Gordon, Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams among others available, quarterback Phil Rivers has plenty of big-play options. That setup the Chargers tying the game 3-3 with Michael Badgley's 37-yard field goal in the second quarter. But a gaffe from Derek Carr took it to a new level. Townsend then added his longest kick of the season with a 57-yarder in the second quarter.

The Raiders will go ahead with some key injuries at receiver with Martavis Bryant out with an injured PCL in his knee.

"It was a awful call by me", Gruden said Monday.

They settled for another field goal on a red-zone trip before Carr's throwaway in the fourth quarter ended their third red-zone possession without a touchdown. "A lot of people are running that play, as you know, in the tight red zone for obvious reasons".

"Hopefully Jordy's OK", Gruden said. "It's painful. It's going to be hard to sleep again, hard to get up in the morning". Nonetheless, Badgely kicked a 41-yard field goal to extend the Chargers lead 20-6. On one play, Carr didn't like what he saw and threw the ball away into the turf.

There are no signs of this situation improving, so it'll be interesting to see how the rest of this season plays out. "It was a design for Jalen Richard against man-to-man coverage". Another one of few opportunities for the Raiders that was unsuccessful today. We've got some resources to keep building. "We will try to move forward without him and get him healthy for next year".

"Look, I feel Mark's pain", Gruden told reporters.

"I talk to Mark after every game and these are unpleasant conversations".
