Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri explained the decision to leave Morata behind - the Spain global has scored three goals in the Blues' previous two Premier League games.

Chelsea fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration after the Blues endured a hard first-half against BATE Borisov in Belarus.

Chelsea fans fume after frustrating first-half against BATE. We moved the ball only horizontal and slowly.

'It was really very hard to be risky.

"It was better in the first 20 minutes of the second half but we didn't manage the last 15 minutes well".

'The best situation this evening is the result. We didn't play very well. I think it is better for him to stay fit with two or three training [sessions] than only with matches. In midfield, the Blues select Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley, while Pedro and Eden Hazard support Olivier Giroud.

The Croatian midfielder is now on a season long loan from Real Madrid and has been impressive in his short spell in London.

Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt reached the last 32 with their fourth win from as many group games by beating Apollon Limassol 3-2 in Cyprus, while Lazio joined them in progressing from Group H as goals from Marco Parolo and Joaquin Correa secured a 2-1 win over Marseille to eliminate last season's runners-up.

And it's fair to say he's a fan.

"So teams are set up and straight away that's unnerving the back four because he's got that ability to ghost past players".

With that in mind, it could be argued that it would have been good to have played Hazard anyway, but he will feature for other reasons rather than that, as the Italian confirmed when he faced the press. He's vital to the way that Chelsea want to play. "But I don't want him to be anxious about scoring because for us he's very important".

"He drives and links the play from the defence to the attack so well".

Cole's words look even more true after today's game.
