BTS, Charlie Puth collab on stage at 2018 MGA

MBC Plus x Genie Music Awards or MGA is a newly launched K-pop music awards co-hosted by South Korea's major television network MBC and music streaming platform Genie.

BTS also won big at the 2018 MGAs, bagging five trophies, including the Daesang (Grand Prize) for Artist of the Year and Digital Album of the Year for "Love Yourself: Answer".

Yet another girl group Black Pink, whose music videos and dance practice videos have gotten over millions of views each, did not show up on the event even though it ranked No. 1 in the dance category, as determined by a vote held through the Genie Music Awards homepage.

BTS hit the red carpet at the 2018 MBC Plus x Genie Music Awards, with multiple wins on the horizon. Jungkook first joined the American musician on stage to belt out his smash hit "We Don't Talk Anymore".

"We'd always thought about giving positive influences to others through our music and it's our honour that we have done so with this album", said rapper Suga after receiving the awards onstage.

The Best Selling Artist was given to girl group Twice, while the Best Song of the Year went to boyband Wanna One's lovely. TWICE also won Best Female Group and Best Global Performance.

BTS released Love Yourself: Answer, the third and final installment in its Love Yourself album series, in August.

The group has stayed on the chart for the 10th straight week since it debuted atop the list in September.
