England play the U.S. on Thursday, 15 November before hosting Croatia in the Nations League the following Sunday.

The match, which will see the DC United striker win his 120th cap, is to be called The Wayne Rooney Foundation International in support of the player's charitable interests.

Rooney will not be a part of England's squad for a Nations League clash against Croatia at Wembley three days after the United States game.

"Wayne Rooney finished with England, Gareth Southgate moved on and I don't agree with this at all". He was captain when I got into the squad.

Rooney heads into the game having scored a record 53 goals for England, while Kane has 19 to his name.

"I am still able to look to the future with the squad we've picked, but we've talked a lot about the history of the shirt", he said.

"Everyone should get right behind it and it will be a great send-off". We have an opportunity with the game at Wembley to pay tribute.

Former England Under-21s striker Wilson has been rewarded for his form this season, scoring six Premier League goals.

The English meedja have been busy wringing their hands over the whole event, with numerous country's Top Football Writers decrying Her Majesty's Southgate's decision to dole out an easy cap, a move supposedly at odds with England's new era.

He said caps should not be "given out like gifts" and that he was "surprised" Southgate had allowed Rooney's inclusion.

"It's a great experience for the younger players in our team".

"I hope Wayne gets the appropriate response, because he's been a tremendous servant".

Fletcher has said that it became clear quite early that Rooney would go on to become a United great, with the only fear being that the likes of Madrid would attempt to take him from the English giants.

Rooney, a record goalscorer for both Manchester United and England, retired from worldwide football in August 2017.
