In light of all the pre-wedding drama caused by Meghan Markle's father, Doria was poised, collected, and there for Meghan (as the mother of the bride should be). These are 10 holiday traditions the royal family does every year.

As a senior member of the Royal Family, she would typically be expected to follow in the Queen's footsteps and not cast a ballot in order to remain "strictly neutral with respect to political matters".

Just days ago, Meghan Markle delivered a powerful speech about women's suffrage, and many are speculating whether the United States citizen practiced what she preached on Election Day Tuesday.

"You understand why Meghan is who she is", an inside source told Vanity Fair.

The source added: "Queen Elizabeth is very aware of all the problems Meghan has had with her dad and sister and she feels sorry for her that she doesn't have family and a support network close by". Their Christmas schedule stays pretty much the same year after year - signing cards in the Summer, taking the royal train to Sandringham, black-tie dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve - and this year, there will be a new addition to the royal festivities.

At this point the, Royal family's love for both Meghan and her mom has been well documented and Prince Charles has reportedly gone so far as to call Meghan the best thing to ever happen to Harry and doted all over Doria doing the couple's wedding reception this past spring. Why, you ask? Here are 12 more times the royal family has broken their own protocol.
