Netflix today announced that it has ordered another 20 episodes of Matt Groening's animated fantasy comedy. But that renewal actually guarantees two more years of the series.

Speaking about this news, Groening said that: "We're excited to continue this epic journey with Netflix".

Netflix originally ordered 20 episodes of Disenchantment, broken into a 10-episode freshman season that premiered on August 17 and a 10-episode sophomore run that's set to hit the streaming site sometime in 2019.

The series takes place in medieval times in the fantastical kingdom of Dreamland. As long as the show continues on schedule, fans can expect Season 2 to drop in 2019, with Season 3 and 4 happening in 2020 and 2021, respectively. That's four consecutive years of watching the misadventures of a drunken princess named Bean, her wise-cracking demon companion Luci, and the lovable and naive Elfo.

Other members of the cast include John DiMaggio, Billy West, Rich Fulcher, Matt Berry, Noel Fielding, Sharon Horgan and Lucy Montgomery.

Matt Groening is and will forever best be known for creating The Simpsons. So unlike many shows on the service that are confirmed one season at a time, it looks like they have three...maybe. Not to mention that the show can't go on forever.

If you enjoyed the first season of Disenchantment on Netflix, then we've got some good news for you. Obviously, Netflix believes in the staying power of Groening, hence the multi-season commitment.
