Would Bane sporting any other get-up look as sweet? The character will make his live-action TV debut in the upcoming fifth season of Gotham, and the first official image has been released. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, which is more than we can say for several people's spines once Shane West's Bane arrives to the series.

Take a look at both photos below. Tom Hardy was intimidating as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. In the source material, Bane rocks attire similar to what lucha libre wrestlers wear: a red, black, and white mask paired with a black unitard and chunky boots.

In any case, Bane's drastic reimagining should come as no surprise to fans of Gotham. Earlier today a few janky unofficial images of West in costume hit the internet, but now, thanks to EW, we have our legit full-body look at the masked villain in all his Mad Max meets Darth Vader-looking glory. Whereas Hardy's version was born and raised in a hellish Middle Eastern prison, in Gotham he is Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army colleague of Jim Gordon. It was also announced that the final season's storylines will be inspired by those found in the comic books, No Man's Land and Batman: Zero Year. "We pick up at the top of Season 5, at the conclusion of No Man's Land, Day 365", showrunner John Stephens told Entertainment Weekly. "We're catching up, and for the first nine episodes, we're always catching up to that first scene we see".

Gotham is set to return midseason in 2019.
