Canadian Rapper Jon James McMurray Dies During Airplane Stunt for Video

Family and friends of rapper Jon James McMurray are mourning after his latest stunt for his upcoming music video went horribly wrong.

McMurray, who performed under the name Jon James, was filming a stunt on a Cessna aircraft.

The Canadian rapper was filming a video when he fell to his death while walking on the wing of a plane.

Jon James McMurray was named by his team on Monday after the accident on the weekend saw the 34-year-old die "instantly" when the pilot was unable to correct a downward spiral. "He had trained intensely for this stunt", his management team said in the statement. "He impacted and died instantly", the statement continued.

McMurray's body was found in a field in the community of Westwold, northwest of Vernon in British Columbia.

"His passion for making music videos and performing stunts were combined, and Jon pushed music in a new direction that was uncharted territory", his team said.

Professional skier Rory Wayne Bushfield said McMurray was his oldest and dearest friend in an emotional Instagram post tributing the late musician.

"Jon's one goal in life was to spread his message of positivity, following one's true calling, and improving one's self while living life to the fullest as big as humanly possible, he put his entire being and soul into his life's mission and didn't deviate for a moment", the page reads. I'm gonna miss him so much, ' he shared.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, coroner's office and Transportation Safety Board are investigating McMurray's death.

"This fund is to help his people get his stuff out there to the world in the right way", Bushfield wrote.

McMurray is survived by his father and mother, Doug and Jen McMurray, his wife, Kali James, and brother, Jarred McMurray.
