"Reigns' friends, fans and fellow wrestling stars took to social media after the announcement to share messages of support with the hashtag "#ThankYouRoman". He ended the segment by announcing that he would beat leukemia and return to WWE.

Reigns told the crowd on WWE Raw on Monday night that he had been battling leukemia for 11 years, and that unfortunately it had returned.

After the announcement, the WWE made an official statement revealing some additional details on Anoa'i's condition.

Reigns, who had missed time in the ring due to what was being called an injury, appeared on the show in street clothes, with his belt.

Reigns said he was initially diagnosed with the cancer of blood-forming tissues back after his successful college football career at Georgia Tech when he was 22-years-old. Hopefully he'll be back in the ring doing what he loves very soon.

"I'm not looking for sympathy", Roman continued. After I'm done whooping leukemia's ass once again, I'm coming back home.

Roman Reigns opened tonight's WWE RAW by announcing that he's been living with leukemia for the past 11 years and it's back. "The team that gave me a chance was WWE".

"It didn't matter if you cheered me; it didn't matter if you booed me", Anoa'i said.

Reigns had been the WWE's Universal champion since August 19 when he won the title for the first time, ending Brock Lesnar's 500-plus-day reign as the champion. Rollins (with tears in his eyes) and Ambrose stuck out their fists and Reigns joined them in a show of solidarity before the trio hugged.
