Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone announced Monday afternoon that Blake Bortles will start this Sunday's game against the Eagles in London. The fifth year National Football League quarterback was benched on Sunday after struggling against Houston Texans, getting benched for Cody Kessler in a 20-7 loss.

"I spoke to both quarterbacks this afternoon and told them that Blake will be our team's starting quarterback", Marrone said in a statement. He's not protecting the ball, and his poor performance has allowed defenses to focus on the run and dare Bortles to beat them in the passing game. Marrone chose to hand the quarterback job over to Cody Kessler after watching Bortles crash-and-burn against the Texans defense.

Despite the statement, Kessler will get some reps with the first team during training this week, according to multiple reports, leaving Bortles on a short leash. Following his second fumble of the day, down by the score of 20-0, he was benched in favor of Cody Kessler.

Bortles has thrown five interceptions and lost three fumbles in the past three games. "That's not fair to the quarterback, but that's the way this business is". I'm going to take the quarterback out.' Not like he had played worse than anyone out there.
