The new Nokia 8.1, recently emerged on the popular benchmarking platform before the official launch, was discovered for the first time by the AndroidPure magazine.

Though the Nokia 8.1 moniker makes us believe that it could be a flagship smartphone as the company already has the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco flagship models, the specifications revealed by Geekbench suggests it will be a mid-ranger. The most recent was the Nokia X7 or the Nokia 7.1 Plus. It is available in 4 GB or 6 GB RAM variants paired with 64 GB or 128 GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 400 GB via a MicroSD card.

Nokia X7/Nokia 7.1 Plus comes in three storage options: 4GB RAM/64GB internal memory, 6GB RAM/64GB internal memory, and 6GB RAM/128GB internal memory.

The Geekbench listings usually mention the codename for the device that is tested. It appears to be a mid-range smartphone, which could be classified as a gaming device. Incidentally, the Nokia 7.1 Plus too, has the same processor. It is an Octa-core processor, which according to Geekbench has a frequency of 1.71 GHz that is much less than what it is capable of.

Well, the alleged Nokia 8.1 has been spotted on the Geekbench database. The Nokia 8.1 has scored 1841 on single core and 5807 on multi-core tests. These aren't as impressive as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Along with the name of the unannounced handset, the listing reveals some of its specs like chipset, RAM and OS version.

Apart from these details, the listing mentions a very important aspect of the supposedly HMD Global 8.1.

HMD Global has already promised the earlier Nokia devices to get the Android 9.0 Pie by the end of this year.
