Rihanna Declined Super Bowl Halftime Show Because of Colin Kaepernick

The NFL eventually locked in Maroon 5 to perform and reports have been circulating that Cardi B could be a special guest during the set. Per a report from US Weekly, Rihanna was actually the NFL's first choice, but she declined to offer "because she supports Colin Kaepernick".

The 30-year-old "Umbrella" singer disagrees with the NFL's stance on kneeling during the national anthem, according to Us Weekly, and has made a decision to skip a performance opportunity at the February 2019 game. She does not agree with the NFL's stance, ' one source tells the outlet. It's since sparked a national discussion about patriotism and has drawn the ire of President Trump. Colin has since filed a grievance against the league and its owners in November 2017, accusing them of colluding to keep him off the field.

She reportedly declined the opportunity to stand in solidarity with former National Football League quarterback and civil rights leader Colin Kaepernick. The NFL tried to dismiss the collusion case, which failed.

Meanwhile the wound is still fresh for Kaepernick, who admitted he has a crush on Rihanna in 2015, after his former team the San Francisco 49ers had to apologize on Friday for initially leaving the former quarterback out of a photo gallery showing their most celebrated moments against the Green Bay Packers.
