The two advisers were White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who is a former secretary for Homeland Security, and Trump's national security adviser, John Bolton, the sources said.

Bloomberg News reported that adviser John Bolton and chief of staff John Kelly got into the fight corroborated by three White House sources. But the people said he is aware of it.

Trump has lately expressed fury about a large group of migrants who are traveling from Honduras toward the US border.

"I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught - and if unable to do so I will call up the US Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!"

The White House declined to respond to CNN's request for comment regarding the incident between Bolton and Kelly, although one anonymous individual who heard the shouting said it startled aides and is being talked about throughout the Trump administration. Neither of the men is resigning, the people said.

It was unclear if President Trump heard the ruckus outside the Oval Office. He has recently sought to make immigration a more prominent political issue, blaming Democrats for increased numbers of migrants crossing the border.
