Blizzard tempers expectations for Diablo news at Blizzcon

Unfortunately, it sounds like we are unlikely to get any big news at Blizzcon this year, despite recent rumours. Blizzard is holding a panel called "Diablo: What's Next", and this is apparently where Blizzard make whatever announcements about Diablo that it has planned.

BlizzCon 2018 takes place November 2-3. The team claimed that while "good things come to those who wait", evil things often take longer. Not only is Diablo III coming to the Nintendo Switch, but "multiple Diablo" projects are confirmed to be in the works at Blizzard. That being said, the messaging from Blizzard here very much implores fans to temper their expectations about what will be revealed at BlizzCon 2018. We appreciate your patience as our teams work tirelessly to create nightmarish experiences worthy of the Lord of Terror.

We'll be sure to keep you posted about all the upcoming Diablo games/projects, so stay tuned for more! Many hoped and believed that we'd see Diablo 4 at this year's Blizzcon.

There has been a steady buzz about the possibilities of major Diablo news at BlizzCon 2018. The post adds "while we won't be ready to announce all of our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show". Of course, one of these projects turned out to be the Diablo III port for the Nintendo Switch.

Perhaps it was the premature reveal of Diablo 3 for Switch, or the odd Netflix related pseudo-announcement, but something caused BlizzCon fans to have a strong suspicion that a major Diablo announcement was in the works.
