Burger King Launches Nightmare-Inducing Halloween Sandwich

It gets a quarter pound of flame-grilled beef and a crispy white meat chicken fillet topped with American cheese, bacon, mayonnaise and onions between a disgusting-looking emerald green sesame bun - and that is a nightmare within itself.

That's what the BURGER KING® brand set out to prove with an unusual research study for its latest Halloween limited time offer, called the Nightmare King.

With the aid of Paramount Trials, Florida Sleep and Neuro Diagnostic Services Inc. and Goldforest Inc., Burger King claims to have conducted a "scientific study" over the course of 10 nights with 100 participants.

Officials with Burger King say the sandwich is "clinically proven to induce nightmares".

The burger will be available at select locations starting on October 22, setting you back about $6.39.

Doctors and scientists in the scary video gathered their results by tracking various signals from the sleeping subjects including their heart rate, brain activity and breath. Um, though there's nothing wrong with layering beef, fried chicken, bacon, and cheese onto a sandwich, do you really need a study to determine if that combo will muck up your sleep a bit?

Some Burger King sandwiches are the burgers of their dreams.

In a statement, the study's lead doctor, Dr. Jose Gabriel Medina, said: "According to previous studies, 4 percent of the population experiences nightmares in any given night". "But, after eating the Nightmare King, the data obtained from the study indicated that the incidence of nightmares increased by 3.5 times".

The limited edition item will be available starting on October 22.
