YouTube has gone down and experiencing widespread access problems.

CNET reports that users trying to access videos or upload content were greeted with an error message.

Team YouTube sent out a tweet Tuesday evening and said, "We're working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed".

Video streaming service YouTube is suffering a major outage, with thousands of users across the globe reporting the site has crashed.

What does Error 503 mean?

Other websites were overwhelmed with traffic as people tried to find more information about the outage. A 503 error is usually associated with a temporary condition. Similar to the website, the YouTube app showed blank areas on the homescreen, while navigating to the "trending", "subscriptions" and "library" tabs returned error messages.

MobileSyrup has reached out to Google for comment on YouTube's outage.

This is a breaking story.
