This will not only be the largest size display on any Galaxy Note or Galaxy S series device but also bigger than the iPhone XS Max (which has a 6.5-inch screen display).

The launch of the Galaxy Note 9 might not have been sufficient to steer Samsung out of troubled waters when it comes to the flagship smartphone segment, the current reigning phablet has still ended up producing dividends for the company. That also makes it the largest Samsung smartphone so far.

The anticipated adoption of the 6.66-inch screen is in line with the global smartphone trend for larger screens, aimed at appealing to users who spend more time watching videos and playing games on their smartphones than before.

It's understandable that Samsung would feel uneasy yielding this title to Apple.

According to Korean publication The Bell, the Samsung Galaxy Note10 (codenamed "Da Vinci") will come up with a 6.66-inch display next year. There are 6.7, 6.9, and even 7.0 inches in that category, all still branding themselves as smartphones rather than tablets with phone functionality (Samsung has something like the latter). Neither Samsung nor Apple will probably go overboard in that regard.

A few days back, the flagship clamshell smartphone from Samsung was spotted on the TENAA certification database.

The W2019 will have one screen that is visible when the phone is closed and a second screen that is visible when the phone is flipped open.
