Jones is jailed on $500,000 bail.

Carolyn Jones was charged in the murder of her granddaughter.

A MS grandmother was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday after her 20-month-old granddaughter was found stabbed and burned inside an oven.

According to WTVA, emergency dispatchers received a call around 7 p.m. Monday. He said he wouldn't release the names of the grandmother or the toddler until the work was complete.

A family member found the body of the toddler at the home and called police, Williams said at the news conference.

A grandmother is being questioned after her dead granddaughter was found inside a heated oven in a MS town.

Sheriff Williams added: 'The Bolivar County Sheriff's Office is working in conjunction with the Shaw Police Department, the Bolivar County District Attorney's office, the Bolivar County Coroner's office, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation to collect all the evidence so that we can ensure justice for this innocent victim.

The grandmother isn't now charged but Williams describes her as being in custody.

'Royalty was so beautiful & I loved her more than anything in the world, ' the toddler's mother Veronica Jones wrote on a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her funeral.

Strain says officials are still investigating the girl's cause of death, as well as when the girl may have died.

Williams says a relative found the girl.

The sheriff said Carolyn Jones' brother found the body on Monday night and called police in Shaw, a town of about 2,000 people in the Mississippi Delta, approximately 100 miles northwest of Jackson.

Williams said Jones was living in the house where the girl was found and no one else was there at the time the murder took place.

Shaw, which is not far from the Arkansas border in northwest MS, is home to about 2,000 people.

A woman in Greenville, about 20 miles from Shaw, pleaded guilty to killing her 3-year-old son in an oven in March 2011. A full autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams tells WTVA-TV the girl had been stabbed, placed in the oven and the oven turned on.
