Arrow-verse Crossover: First Image Of Superman In A Black Suit

The Exploding Head emojis that Arrow star Stephen Amell attached to his latest tweet, from behind-the-scenes at this year's Arrowverse crossover shoot, pretty much say it all. The event will mark the introduction of Ruby Rose as Batwoman and the first appearance of Gotham City in the Arrowverse.

Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as Superman in the CW's upcoming Arrowverse crossover titled Elseworlds, which is now in production.

In other CW crossover related news, while Legends of Tomorrow won't be included in Elseworlds, the team is planning their own crossover of sorts within their own ranks. Now the event is actually filming, which means set photos are starting to make their way online care of the shows' casts.

Eagle-eyed fans, however, are gravitating more to what Amell and Flash counterpart Grant Gustin are revealed to be wearing: matching black trousers (with wallet chains!) and studded biker boots. Hoechlin, though, isn't wearing the traditional red and blue Superman costume.

One of the most popular "alternate looks" for Superman in the comics was the black costume that he wore when he came back from the dead in the "Reign of the Supermen" comic book storyline.

But of course, we can't help but wonder...why in the hell is he even wearing this suit to begin with? We'll have to wait and see how this all plays out when the crossover events drop in December. In the comics, "Elseworlds" stories take DC superheroes and put them in stories out of continuity. "Elseworlds" kicks off on December 9 on The CW.
