On April Fool's Day, Musk tweeted, "Despite intense efforts to raise money, including a last-ditch mass sale of Easter Eggs, we are sad to report that Tesla has gone completely and totally bankrupt".

In the earlier tweet, he had mentioned, "Elon was found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by "Teslaquilla" bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks". Now, almost half a year later, it looks like tequila could be the latest in Tesla's arsenal of merchandise it sells to fans.

The professional Fortnite player and Twitch star reached out to Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, on Sunday night, asking whether the forward-thinking inventor could help him to get better internet. An official patent was filed for Teslaquila with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office last week, and is identified as "Distilled agave liquor; Distilled blue agave liquor".

Neither application guarantees the automaker will, in fact, market tequila. But as CNBC points out, Tesla filed it with an "intent to use" which indicates that it has a good faith intention to utilise it in the future.

Tequila is made from fermented and distilled juices from Mexican agave plants.

Despite a $20 million settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission that includes a provision for more company oversight of his social media use, the billionaire has been making waves on Twitter once again.
