In the last round, Crawford dropped Benavidez with an uppercut and "Bud" got the stoppage with his follow up barrage as Benavidez sank into the ropes.

Terence Crawford has promised Top Rank promoter Bob Arum he will fight three times next year after defending his WBO welterweight title and ideal record against Jose Benavidez. Crawford weighed in at 145.4 pounds and Benavidez at 145 pounds.

And that arrived in the final minute, Crawford sending Benavidez to the canvas with a huge right uppercut, before the fight was stopped after another flurry of blows moments later. Crawford retaliated with a ridiculously fast punch but missed Benavidez, who leaned back to duck the shot. "He's going to fight three times, because he's the biggest thing in boxing".

But the end would come before the cards could come into consideration, Crawford's volley of punches forcing Ruiz to stop the fight and bringing the partisan hometown crowd to their feet. It was just a matter of time. "He was exhausted, and once he slowed down, I saw I could catch him with the uppercut". It feels so good to shut somebody up who's been talking for so long.
