FFF president Le Graet responds to Benzema 'leave me alone' post

Karim Benzema has implored Noel Le Graet to "leave me alone", after the French Football Federation president suggested there is no way back for the striker with Les Bleus.

Benzema has been frozen out of the global set-up ever since a blackmail scandal that implicated him and fellow France player Mathias Valbuena broke in 2015.

Benzema has hinted in the past that Le Graet utilised the scandal to effectively condemn him to global retirement and that World Cup-winning coach Didier Deschamps bowed to racist pressures to exclude him during the 2016 European Championship on home soil. "It's been three or four years that (this case) has been dragging", Le Graet said. It should have been judged much faster and it is rotten for us.

And Benzema, who has 81 caps for his country, took to Twitter to reply to Le Graet's comments.

"Noel, you already ended Benzema's global career in June of 2018 and you're doing it again now and at the same time, you insult him", Djaziri fired on Twitter. Do you feel guilty about something? Deschamps has not called up Benzema since he claimed that the national team coach bowed to the pressure of a racist part of France when agreeing to leave him out of the group of players for the 2016 European Championship.

"But that does not change my opinion of him, he's an excellent player".

"I have nothing against Karim, he has always behaved well in the (national) team". "France are world champions and that is the essential, the rest is futile".

Le Graet had said in an interview with French newspapers that the 30-year-old Benzema's time with Les Bleus "was finished".
