It also cost a lot, starting at $1,899 and going up to $2,899, putting it out of the range of many.

A new version, keeping the name but making some hardware and design tweaks, is now available, and at a lower starting price of $1,599.

Gaming brand Razer on Thursday announced the launch of a new base model in its Razer Blade 15 gaming notebook series, originally launched in June 2018. The Blade 15 Dual Storage edition is a little bit thicker than the earlier Blade 15 models because of this additional 2.5-inch drive, but Razer took advantage of the extra space by adding in a gigabit Ethernet port to improve connectivity. It also made the base model thicker and use a hybrid SSD+HDD dual storage. What hasn't been dropped, however, is the six-core Intel Core i7-8750H, 16GB of upgradeable RAM and the 6GB GTX 1060 GPU. Even if you opt for the pricier of the two, it's still cheaper than the previous version, with the benefit of bulk storage. The keyboard has a single lighting zone for everything, so while you still get millions of color options, you can only view them one at a time.

There's a new color option, too.

However, if looks are more important than saving a few bucks, then the "Mercury White" Limited edition wraps things in a familiar-looking greyish tone and un-lit Razer logo on the lid that won't seem so out of place amid a sea of MacBook Pros. This one carries a more premium price tag though, to reflect a burlier collection of hardware. Claimed to be the "world's smallest 15.6-inch laptop", the Razer Blade 15's base model now offers dual SSD + HDD storage, and retains the 0.78-inch thin chassis. "We listened to feedback from our fans and we have expanded on that experience with a new colour option, Ethernet capability, more storage configurations, and a more affordable price". If you spend $2,600 you get a GTX 1070 Max Q GPU with 512GB of storage and a 144Hz display, but it is limited to 1080P resolution. Europe and Asia-Pacific markets will get availability from November. Razer will offer the Mercury White model sometime in the fourth quarter in the United States and Canada, and at selected retailers in China.
