'Pokemon Go' teases huge evolution for the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan

The two Professors, Professor Oak and Professor Willow, found a new Mystery Box.

In the video above, you can also catch a glimpse of Meltan out in the wild... which players will soon be able to see for themselves once Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee release for Nintendo Switch on November 16.

According to the site, one of the only ways to catch a Meltan going forward will be to send a Pokemon from Pokemon Go over to either Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Let's Go, Eevee! on the Switch.

While Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee pare back the series' sprawling bestiary to only the original 151 monsters (plus their Alolan variants), players will be able to obtain one entirely new Pokemon in the games: the unusual Mythical Pokemon Meltan. The box contains a rusty lump of metal inside, composed of the same elements as Meltan... Although the Switch games can be played without connecting to Pokemon Go, they are created to work with each other, allowing you to transfer Pokemon back and forth between platforms.

Plenty Meltan are all over the page, including one you can rotate freely to get a better look at the liquid metal 'mon. Opening it will cause Meltan to appear, but only for the player that opened said box.

The only way to open the Mystery Box again is to wait a set amount of time before transferring more Pokemon over.

Last month, Pokemon Go shocked the world with the surprise introduction of a new Pokemon species - the mythical Pokemon Meltan. As we recently learned, the Go Park is made up of 20 parks, each of which can hold 50 Pokemon, so you can store up to 1,000 monsters in total at the facility.

It all seems a little complex, but The Pokemon Company and Niantic are clearly working hard to ensure players who are deeply involved in both Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let's Go are rewarded with access to this new Mythical Pokemon. The Pokemon Company hasn't shared any further details as to what this new Special Research quest will entail, but it will be available sometime this winter.
