Rishabh Pant's impressive form in his recent Test outings against England and Windies has earned him his maiden call-up into the Indian ODI squad for the first two matches of the five-game series against Windies starting on October 21 in Guwahati. Pant replaces the seasoned Dinesh Karthik in the 15-man squad.

Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, and Shardul Thakur have also been included in the Indian squad.

On the other hand, West Indies, their regular skipper Jason Holder is still not fit and their star bowler Shannon Gabriel is also doubtful for the final encounter.

Although there were suggestions from former Indian cricketers to try new players in the second Test against the Windies, bowling coach Bharat Arun has said the best XI will be fielded in the second match in Hyderabad from October 12.

Axar Patel had also injured himself during the Asia Cup but his place was lost because of Ravindra Jadeja's successful comeback.

Pant has been called up by the selectors, who also went ahead with MS Dhoni.

"It's no brainer who is our No. 1 wicketkeeper", Prasad said. "We have given a few opportunities to Karthik".

India thrashed the West Indies by a record innings and 272 runs last week but spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said the SG ball was "disappointing", and that he preferred Australia's Kookaburra or Dukes. Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Ambati Rayudu, and Manish Pandey complete India's batting line-up.

India and Windies will be locking horns in the five-match ODI series after the conclusion of the ongoing Test series. "We've made a decision to rotate our players so that we can avoid break downs", Prasad said.
