"He might not have thought he'd have a insane motherf-er like (me)", West said, according to a White House pool report.

On Trump: "Let's stop worrying about the future; all we have is today". Near the end of the interview, Trump also went after his former chief economic adviser Gary Cohn, a key player in Woodward's book, saying, "I could tell stories about him like you wouldn't believe". Eventually, West started gushing about Trump while talking about what it was like to go public with his full support for the president.

"Could very well be", Trump said.

"He might not expect to have a insane motherf***r like Kanye West support him", West told those in the Oval Office.

West, a long-time Trump supporter, also decried the allegedly widespread expectation that black people should be Democrats.

Earlier Thursday, Trump told "Fox and Friends" Thursday that West is "a different kind of guy and that's OK with me". The president said the session "was just set up to be a lunch of two people I like". "We are one country".

The New York Times initially revealed the details of West's visit, purportedly to discuss prison reform with Jared Kushner and Chicago job creation with President Trump.

He made the comment as he met with rapper and producer Kanye West at the White House.

One reporter asked West what he wants to see happen in Chicago.

The pre-lunch meeting was also attended by former USA football player Jim Brown and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

It nearly sounded as if reforming the prison system was a top priority for President Trump since it is "very costly" and challenged his own Attorney General, Jeff Sessions.

Mr Trump said that "stop-and-frisk works".

Trump says he'd been willing to "look at it", and says, "They have to do something". "Also, I'm married to a family that does not have a lot of male energy".

West also had some clarification about his mental health. "So, there's theories that there's infinite amounts of universe, and there's alternate universe".
