Yankees and Red Sox Fans Get in Terrifying Bar Brawl

What would first-base umpire Angel Hernandez have to say for himself after not one, not two, not three, but four of his safe/out calls were challenged Monday night, and not one, not two, but three of them were overturned following replay reviews? Boston was up a footbally 10-0 after the top of the fourth inning, which was not a result anyone expected, but one that does have some precedence.

Holt's homer helped the Red Sox post the biggest rout of the Yankees in postseason play, surpassing Arizona's 15-2 pasting in Game 6 of the 2001 World Series. Boston trailed by a run, 4-3, and was on the verge of being swept. The Red Sox lead the best-of-five series 2-1.

The changes for NY include Brett Gardner replacing Andrew McCutchen in left field, Neil Walker stepping in for Miguel Andujar at third base and Aaron Hicks making his return from his bothersome right hamstring injury.

Andrew Benintendi lined a three-run double and Holt tripled home two more in a seven-run fourth inning that quickly turned the latest playoff matchup between these longtime rivals into a laugher.

This was, in fact, exactly the type of moment that has become all too under-valued in this era of Ivy League-educated GMs who have taken to hiring cookie-cutter managers mostly to implement data and carry out orders from the baseball ops guys.

CC Sabathia will start for the Yankees in Game 4. He is 38 years old and he wants to come back and pitch again next year for a 19 season.

"Well, I guess [that's] from the school of never taking anything for granted", he said. They take a lot of pitches. David Price suffered the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings. Chances are he'll find his way into the game tonight. And he very well might do okay. So it shouldn't shock anyone that he might be miffed by some of the things the Red Sox did in Game 3.

Sure enough, Romine grooved a 79-mph pitch - identified graciously as a "slider" on MLB Gameday - and Holt pounced on it, hooking it down the right-field line, just inside the pole, for a two-run homer that accounted for the final runs in the Red Sox's staggering 16-1 victory, which put them ahead, two games to one, in the best-of-five series. (This was Manny being Manny, only Mookie).

By then, Lynn wasn't the right guy for the situation, a starter who has rarely come into a game as a reliever with runners on base. Bill Mueller smacked a 1-1 pitch back up the middle, chasing home Roberts with the tying run.

As such, this October was always going to be the first crucial test for Boone, someone who jumped from the broadcast booth to the Yankees dugout without having spent even one day as a coach or manager, minors or majors. Of course this human error doesn't really matter to the outcome, beyond prolonging the Yankees agony.

"They are going to call the game the way they see it". The Red Sox can clinch a berth in the AL Championship Series with another win Tuesday night in Game 4.

The Red Sox hold homefield advantage over the Astros, but Houston holds homefield advantage over the Yankees.
