A New Version of The Legend of Zelda Just Launched on Switch

The new Legend of Zelda save lets you play the original armed with tons of Rupees and items from the start.

Several of the secrets have already been uncovered (mainly to get the rupees), but apart from the above, players will still need to play through all the dungeons in order to defeat Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda. Basically acting like an in-built Game Genie, you start the game with every item and upgrade, making the adventure much easier from the get-go. Once you beat the game, you'll also gain access to a harder version of the game called Second Quest, according to the description.

Like all of the NES games released through Nintendo Switch Online, The Legend of Zelda also comes with new multiplayer capabilities. The protagonist, a sorcerer called Dana, must find the eponymous key by progressing through a series of increasingly challenging rooms by creating and/or destroying orange blocks.

Yes, as promised, Solomon's Key, NES Open Tournament Golf and Super Dodge Ball have all arrived, bumping the standard roster of NES games up to 23 in total, but this new Zelda option takes that total up another notch. The third game is also sports themed.

Other NES games will receive similar data in the future.

Nintendo's new paid service for online play, Nintendo Switch Online, debuted in September, and with it came a bunch of original NES games available only to subscribers on Nintendo's newest console.
